I'm so happy that I can finally share my Final Year Project and to say that I received a first for this piece of work! And it has been a journey to say the least.
My project is all about coeliac disease and the hidden struggles that people with the condition face - with my original inspiration being none other than my sister Anna.
I have seen first-hand how having coeliac disease impacts her every day life and it is definitely a condition that is overlooked, or even unheard of in some cases!
Support, knowledge and guidance is so vital to the coeliac community and being able to explore this in my project is something I am immensely proud of.
From delving into aspects of the condition - from diagnosis and daily life to aspects such as finance and even politics, I hope my project will achieve what its purpose is - to raise awareness.
To see my hard work pay off, especially on a topic that impacts so many people (including several members of my own family), means so much to me!
I am proud to have explored this topic and different areas within it. From talking to those with the disease about their experiences, to the advocacy efforts that are constantly taking place - my project aims to raise awareness of Coeliac Disease and everything that comes with it.
I want to say a massive thank you to all of my interviewees and contributors who I couldn't have done this without! And also to my lecturers at the University of Gloucestershire for their constant support!
